Pi-Ramesse became a developed city under Ramses ll. It had docks, orchards, gardens, storehouses, and temples. It was the administrative bureaucracy for Egypt as well as an important military building. Ramses was very interested in combining Egyptian culture with Asiatic, and his city was divided into 4 parts. Each part was the home of a presiding deity, combining Egyptian religion with Asiatic.

    RAMSES II-HITTITE EMPIRE
The Hittite Empire under the leader Muwatalli was one of Ramses' main foes. He fought them at the Battle of Kadesh, probably the most famous of Ramses' military career. The empire was located around modern-day Turkey, rivaling Egypt in the most powerful empire after Akhenaten lost imperial control of the Middle East lands that Egypt controlled. Muwatalli was a fierce match for Ramses, and the two rulers signed a treaty ending years of conflict. Ramses capped it off by marrying Maathorneferure, a Hittite princess. At the empire's height, it stretched from the Black Sea to near Jerusalem and Israel, through Turkey and down the coast.
